PERSONALITY •
Willem is a calm, but definitely not quiet boy. He chews on grass all the time; not because he's hungry or anything but it works like chewing gum for him. He likes the taste. He is not clingy at all; he actually quite dislikes it when he gets hugged or kissed on the cheek. He'll always try to get away from you, wether you're a stranger or not; but when he doesn't know you that well, he's more likely to kick, punch and even bite you.
He is a quite serious child, although he likes to tease the other children – a bit too much sometimes. He can be very blunt and honest at the same time and always has his own point of view. He'll respect your point of view, too, but only if you have reasons to have a different opinion. For a child, he is extremely tidy. He literally can't sleep if anything in his room is out of place. Willem hates mess and clutter and hates people who are able to live in a mess. He's fond of little animals like cats and dugs, but his alltime favourite are bunnies. They're just so soft and fluffy.
He's pretty impatient, but yet has the patience to play chess or hang around in the garden to watch the flowers and sky. Although he doesn't really seem to be the type to daydream, he does that a lot. He's good in drawing and making up stories and quite enjoys it. He doesn't want to get caught up in the problems from others, so most of the times he stays away from trouble and doesn't want to choose sides. However.. he can be quite rebellious as well, if he wants to.

PARENTS • 'Big' Netherlands and Belgium
HISTORY • Most of his memories are surpressed, but his earliest memory is from when he was two years old. He remembered being half asleep, lying uncomfortably on a plastic surface, feeling cold against his skin. He remembered he wasn't able to move his hands and feet and his mind was filled with clouds. Everything was so hazy, he saw people with faces but without a mouth, clad in green and white. (since when did I write history parts so personal, gah). Until his third birthday he was never alone, always accompagnied by at least two scientists, although from times to times he also had other people visiting him. They were strangely familiair; especially one, almost giantlike man. He was quite intimidaded and maybe even a bit scared when he first saw the country; the country, he learnt, he was 'modeled' after.
Willem doesn't really remember much of the tests they did on him;
he only remembers the strange hazy sight and warm, but uncomfortable air and the strange feeling everything went five times slower than normal. When he didn't have to do any tests, a chessboard was offered and while he first thought it was supposed to build things – tried to build a castle with the rooks and the horses, he later learnt it was a game. A strategic game, used to improve your logic skills, creating strategies and seeing through the plans from the other player, the enemy. Although at the age of four he wasn't able to defeat any of the scientists, they let them win sometimes to so he wouldn't get frustrated with the game. He also lost many times though, to learn him how to cope with defeat. Between the chess and the tests he met those strange persons more and more often, feeling he was connected with them. Around the age of five Willem was allowed to leave the laboratorium and to go home. However... what was exactly home?

just one last time..

Colours always intrigued him. Flowers were in so many colours and shapes.. they were all so unique from each other and every single flower was equally pretty. There were thousands of colours to discover in just a little daffodil if you looked closely. He thought it was magical how colours so beautifully blended into each other. Others maybe thought how silly it was to study a flower that closely, but he just found it veryinteresting how flowers looked like. There were happy looking flowers and sad looking ones, dark and light, bold and subtle.
Willem always tried to capture those colours in his drawings, but it never worked out. It never turned out as he wanted it; the flower he drew was always different from the flower he tried to draw. Other people quite liked his drawings, but he was never satisfied. He wasn't that much of a perfectionist, but he wanted his drawings to be perfect. Frustrated with the drawing at the moment, he dropped his pencil and left it on the table. Sighing at it, he went outside with some bread, to the garden to take a break. The gardens always seemed to calm him down; maybe it was the air, or the serenity, or just the beautiful colours he always liked.
Sitting against a tree for at least half an hour, he smiled a little when he saw a bird coming his way, searching for some food. Oh right, it was spring.. maybe the bird had some little baby birds. It was fun to watch the bird, how tame it was. The little animal wasn't even scared of Willem, and Willem wondered how life must be for a bird. Almost never on the ground, always in the sky, in the trees. People sometimes said how they would like to a bird, to fly. Not him. He'd prefer the steady ground. Full of pretty colours. He stared some more at the bird and threw the remainings of his bread at it. After all, the bird needed it more than him.
