PERSONALITY •
Nikolaas is the kind of guy that most people tend to shy away from. He’s headstrong, rough, bossy and likes to be on top of everything. His dominating and rather ruthless personality is not made much better by his tall and intimidating physique. Nikolaas also couldn't care less about other people's opinions of him, as he believes everyone is entitled to their own opinion on everything - this tends to make him come across as terribly blunt.
New people he does not know very well is almost a phobia to him– and as a result can be cold, intimidating and reserved when it comes to strangers. Earning the duthman's trust can be long and tedious process, but once he's warmed up to you, he can be rahter freindly.
And if beer is involved, he'll be happy as anything.
He might seem like just a cold hearted man, but deep down he does have a heart, it's just heavily guarded. Once one has gained his loyalty he will be fiercely loyal and protective back. Despite being a nation, he chose the career path as a doctor. During times of war he feels he can do more good helping wounded than holding a gun.
However, he is a strong fighter, but prefers to try and solve conflicts in a diplomatic and reasonable way - violence is plan B if being diplomatic gets him no where. But even in a fight, it might take a lot to for his calm demeanor to disappear - and showing fear is a big no-no.
Nikolaas is still respectful over others ideas and opinions, but if someone restricts his freedom, he will fiercely defend his right to speak his mind and do as he wishes.

( CAUSE ONE OF US IS GOIN' )
one of us is goin' down
one of us is goin' down
(Seeing as I keep creeping people out with the Doctor RP sample, here have something else...if not more depressing XD )
There had been so much death...so much noise and so much pain. After the invasion everything was going downhill. Netherland didn't have enough food to feed his people, and that alone was painful enough. But right now, on the smoking battlefield, Nikolaas couldn't think about those things. He had to find Belgium and Luxembourg!
Running through the trenches he spotted two familiar figures, jumping and skidding he nearly dropped on top of the two shorter females.
"Hallo!" he greeted them with the biggest grin he could muster. "You're both looking as gorgeous as ever" this was perhaps the biggest lie in the history of mankind, as none of them looked well at all. But fuck it all. These where his sisters, the least he could do was try and cheer them up.
Bullets could be heard ricocheting off dead soldiers helmets, but Nikolaas just shrugged...there was nothing he could do for them.
"I've got orders of moving you further down in the trenches. It's too risky to leave you here now. The enemy is advancing..." with that he grabbed a hold of them both and started dragging them along in the deep tranches. "Right...lay lo---"
Netherland didn't even get to finish his sentence before an enemy soldier jumped down into the trench and fired his gun at them.
His first reaction was to push Luxembourg and Belgium away before diving at the soldier. He could feel something in his chest, but ignored it as he struggled with the soldier.
A cut to the throat with his knife ended the struggle, but when Netherlands tried to stand up and turn around to face his sisters, he found no strength in his legs. Trying to blink away the creeping darkness at the edge of his vision, he tried to make out the blurred shapes before him...but he was slowly loosing consciousness.
'no..no...This can't be happening. Not now. They're not safe yet!' his mind was racing for a solution, but none came. The icy cold pain in his chest was spreading...and he couldn't stop it.
Collapsing down on the muddy trench floor, the only words he could muster out was a weak "I'm sorry...my… fault..."
Darkness overtook him, easing the pain, but not the worry.
